There is an old riddle: CH _ _ CH. What’s missing? UR. That’s right. You are missing from the Congregational Church of Canton. In a few words, I would like to tell you what you will find if you visit our congregation.

Forget the fact that our sanctuary and chapel are aesthetically pleasing. Forget the wonderful, spiritually-uplifting music you will hear showering down from our balcony. Forget the sermons that connect the biblical narrative to your life and faith. Forget the inspirational Christian Education opportunities for young, and old, and everyone in between. Aside from these things — which you will find here — you will feel the open arms of unconditional Christian love.

Our denomination employs numerous slogans. The one that probably resonates with us the most is, “No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here.” People in our united and uniting church hail from a sundry of other denominations: the United Methodist Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), and many of the Baptist traditions. Whether you were raised in a different faith – or in no faith at all – you will find us to be a place that emphasizes the love of God over divine judgment. You will find us a safe place to ask questions as opposed to being a church that thrusts its dogma on you. In sum, you will find the Congregational Church of Canton to be a place that rejoices in our common calling to serve God in the service of all people.
